Enter to win a copy of Diary 2010 + a visit with Fantazya - CONTEST CLOSED

Guess what?! It's time for a new Thursday Giveaway
If you'd like to see the winner of this morning's drawing for the J. Brown print click here

Lucky Me! I had the good fortune to take part in the creation of today's prize. Lucky You! This is your chance to win it!! The new Thursday Giveaway prize is a copy of Diary 2010. This functional piece of art had a number of collaborators from all around the globe.

What is Diary 2010? It is the brainchild of photographer/ fashion designer Lucy Baribeau from Fantazya. For the 3rd year, she sent out a call to artists around the web. (I heard about it from Ewian an artist & blogger from Norway). Each participant signed up for at least 1 day in the year. The task was to create a page in black in white that would be artistic ,yet would function as a usable diary page. Each page is dated in 3 languages (English, French & Spanish).

To see a list of participating artists & more pages from the Diary, go to www.fantazya.ca/diary2010.html. You can also order 1 printed and bound or on CD. I've scanned a couple of pages from my copy to show you here. I'm really happy with how it came out & picked some up for gifts (good thing my family doesn't follow my blog )

I had so much fun making my page I decide to do a couple more. You can see my 3 designs in this July blog post.

You can also purchase the diary from Lucy's Etsy shop, Fantazaya. The diaries she sells there have wonderful decorated covers. The diary that has been donated for next Thursday's random drawing has a plain cover that you can decorate yourself. It measures approx. 4.25" x 7" and is spiral bound. It has 382 pages (364 date pages, 12 month pages, 8 address pages, 3 note pages, 2 introduction pages & 2 year pages) each with a unique design.

Prize looks just like this except it has a clear spiral binding.

It's easy to enter next Thursday's Random Drawing:

Just leave a comment on this blog before 1 a.m. (EST) on 11/19 and you are in. It is that easy. There will be 1 winner picked by Random.org. Just make sure you have contact info in your profile or comment. Contest is open worldwide. Shipping is free.

I asked Lucy to stop by & share a little info about herself. She has a variety of things happening online. Click on any of the links below to see what she is up to:

LB:
I am a fashion designer and I especially love recycling, vintage, and organic materials.

LB: And because I don't like to do always the same kind of art, I play with crafting, photography,

...painting, making diary projects, etc... This is why my Etsy shop is so diversified !

LB: My house has a double living room. I took one to make my studio and I made a stair to easily go in the attic, where I place almost all my material and items ready to send. My attic is so big ! I'm amassing my money and next spring, I plan to renovate it to make my studio there... for me this is a very beautiful project !

I know it will come out fabulous, Lucy, like so many of your wonderful projects! I'd love to see photos when you are done, if you'd like to share. I always enjoy before & after pictures. Many thanks for stopping by to share your studio space & creations with us. And special thanks for sponsoring next Thursday's contest! Also, I am looking forward to making pages for Diary 2011 - when do we begin??

Readers, if you get a chance please stop by & visit Lucy's links. I've enjoyed them all & her Flickr is a "must see" if you're into photography.

Musical Monday's Muse

Starting the week with 1 of my favorite songs of all time

It's just after 2 a.m. & for the last couple of hours my Muse has been hanging out over at DaFont.com. I've been spending too much time playing over there (again). I'm turning into that neighbor kid who always seems to come around at dinner time (remember Chet from The Hardy Boys books?) except I'm drooling all over the alphabet.

Decided to stick Stonehenge on something so here's another Diary 2010 page.

July 18 2010

I better get some sleep as my little guy will be up in a few hours. I can already see myself at work later today grumbling quietly with one hand on the keyboard & the other clutching my coffee cup like my life depends on it ...

If you haven't entered the new giveaway yet, just leave a comment describing what summer photo you want printed on a 16" x 20" canvas from OnlinePosterPrinting.com. 1 Lucky winner will be randomly picked at noon (EST) July 30. For giveaway details CLICK HERE

Oh & if you have the time, grab a button & see what's inspiring some other fine folks today

Burning the midnight oil

May 13 2010

Why is it that with weeks & weeks to do a project, I always wait till the last minute?

(Um, don't answer that - purely rhetorical)

Had fun knocking out a couple of pieces for Diary 2010 last night. I actually tried to start several times in the last month but kept over thinking things. 1 deadline extension later (apparently I'm not the only well intentioned procrastinator) figured I best keep my word & hand in something. So put the little dude to bed, made some espresso, and started searching my mac for pieces to dissect & reassemble.

What is Diary 2010? A very cool project that artist/blogger Ewian turned me on to. (By the way, she keeps adding art supplies to her giveaway - pop over & check it out). Volunteers world wide send in calendar pages which will be assembled & sold as planners. Each page has the date in 3 languages. Plus, on the bottom, your online shop and what you sell there. Other than that, artwork is in shades of grey & needs to be laid out in such a way that the page is still usable for writing on. This is the 3rd diary project they've done. You can also find images of previous diaries on flickr HERE.

I had so much fun making the 1st that I decided to take on one of the extra pages still available. Found this wonderful Leaf Font over at Dafont.com & this drawing seemed to fit with it.

November 13 2010

Funny thing is, I wish I had started sooner so I had time to make a few more. Ah well, there is always 2011 !

Final note: Any interest in winning a 16" x 20" canvas print of your summery photo? This giveaway's sponsor OnlinePosterPrinting.com will send a gallery or museum wrapped canvas print to 1 lucky winner. To enter this random drawing just leave a comment describing your favorite summer photo that you'd like to have printed. There are a couple of disclaimers so CLICK HERE for details. You have until noon (EST) Thursday 7/30 to enter.

RTT- Just a wee bit-o-random today

Getting a head start on my Random Tuesday Thoughts. I have a hunch that once the day's madness begins, I may not make it back here. Just 1 of those week's already

randomtuesday

Spent the weekend building a ginormous outdoor playset - holy $h*+! Rediscovered some muscles I forgot I had. Too tired to work on art in the p.m. so cramming to meet some deadlines. (Just fun stuff tho - no paying gigs)

I joined an art book-group for Twilight over at ZNE. While not thrilled with the series, I do love me some vampires & there are some great images throughout the book. It looks like we'll be reading & then making art for each chapter. Fun stuff. I think there'll be some public pics up Wednesday. Will post a link then. In the meantime here's a sneaky peak of my illo's inking phase:
Inspired by Oblivion Stock over at DeviantArt.

Oh, if you're more into Buffy than Edward, this is priceless. The Un Mom graciously shared it recently

Also up this week is a mechanical toy I've finished in my head but had no time to make. I keep dumbing it down for speed of assembly. If I don't watch out, it will be a painted rock by the time I'm done.

Found out about this Diary project over at Ewian's blog. Check it out - still some openings left but deadline is looming. Just click on the box above.

I absolutely love Ewian's artwork. She has such a vibrant & distinctive style. A very sweet person too - always ready with a kind comment plus she sent me this fabulous field guide:

Hey, had to sneak those zombies in here somewhere - it is Tuesday after all ;D

Ewian also has a great art supplies giveaway going on right so, so hop on over & check it out!

Dang, gotta hit the hay. Tuesday snuck up on me when I wasn't looking. If you're looking for more chaotic goodness, pop on over to the Admiral of Anarchy (ok ok I'll admit I'm stretching on that one), The Un Mom. There is always something wacky going on over there any day of the week!
The Un Mom

Man this post keeps running on. But I almost forgot to mention a reminder that there is no random drawing this Thursday. Check back on the 9th to see who wins one of my art boxes, customized with their choice of image & text. Click HERE for details and a photo of a similar piece. To enter the giveaway just leave a comment on this blog before noon (EST) on July 9th.
