Musical Monday - The Swell Season

I haven't participated in Musical Monday for a while

Here is what I'm listening to today

I still haven't gotten around to seeing Once but may have to now that I'm hooked on this album., Strict Joy. Great background stuff. Not the best compliment, I know - sorry. I'm always on the lookout for music that can keep the creative juices flowing but fades to the back of the mind when needed- do you know what I mean?

I caught The Swell Season on Studio 360 last night - you can listen to their Tiny Desk Concert Here.

What are you listening to today? If you've got a few minutes, click the button share your tune-of-the-day with everyone visiting Good Mourning Glory

Over at Maternal Spark's Weekly Inspiration they've listed their "Top 10 Mom Blogs By Design" & also ask "what's inspiring you this week?" I always enjoy stopping to think about this question. Helps me focus. I'm going with peace & quiet. Lately life has been too hectic, too fast & way too loud. I have (once again) lost touch with what matters while bouncing around like a ping pong ball. Need to chill - regroup, pay attention all the little stuff, and start creating again.

What about you? What are you up to this week?

Have you entered Thursday's random drawing yet? In a few days 1 lucky winner will receive a glass tile mosaic box from artist Maureen Tillman. To enter just leave a comment on this blog before 1 a.m. (EST) on 12/10

For photos of the prize and an interview with Maureen, CLICK HERE.

Maureen also took us on a virtual studio tour yesterday - click here to visit her studio.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you're off to a creative week.

  1. I normally listen a lot to musicals, music with really good lyrics and strong female voices, a bit of classical music etc but lately I fell in love with Lily Allen's music - I think she is a brilliant lyricist!!

Last week when I was preparing for my first huge show I listened to... tadaaaa... none other than LADY GAGA! Dance music? Moi? Yes. Somehow it fit very well with my internal pace and the way I worked.

  3. I've been inspired to make a set of ATCs based on the 2001 movie Moulin Rouge. I'm kind of excited about how they're turning out. :o)

  4. My DH loves The Swell Season. Sometimes you just gotta do mellow. It soothes the soul. Great pick and a nice break from all the Christmas stuff!

  5. I find music too intrusive for me. I just like the quiet. When I turn on music, I start listening to it and singing along or even dancing. LOL!! Just can't resist!

  6. Gee can't you just see SueAnn dancing around whatever she's creating?? hehehe!!! Most times I listen to a wide range of music from Opera to Jazz to Country (ya) but right now it's all the oldtime Christmas songs.. I like quiet too, but music doesn't interfer with my creative muses...pssst nice chatting with you sweetie!!!
